Lyrics:

You wait up for me, I don't wake up for you

Would you like the company or are you sick of me?

When your love lets you go you only want love more

Even when love’s not what you were looking for

Speak slow, tell me love, where do we go?

Ah ah, where do we go? Ah ah, where do we go?

You break down and plead your case, I don't know what to say

I leave my heart all this pain and now I'm at it all again

On these streets that I leave for weeks on end, who's to blame?

When you want love, doesn't matter what you're looking for

Speak slow, tell me love, where do we go?

Ah ah, where do we go? Ah ah, where do we go? Ah ah

Speak slow, tell me love, where do we go?

Ah ah, where do we go? Ah ah, where do we go?

Speak slow

I'm so far away and I just can't see you

I'm so far along and I don't just need you

I am so ah-alone, so ah-ah-alone

So ah-alone, so ah-ah-alone

I'm so far away and I just can't see you

I'm so far along and I don't just need you

I am so ah-alone, so ah-ah-alone

So ah-alone, so ah-ah-alone

When your love lets you go, you only want love more

Even when love’s not what you were looking for

When your love lets you go, you only want love more

Even when love’s not what you were looking for

Speak slow, tell me love, where do we go?

Ah ah, where do we go? Ah ah, where do we go? Ah ah

Speak slow, tell me love, where do we go?

Ah ah, where do we go? Ah ah, where do we go?

Trivia and Quotes:

“I don't remember writing that song, I'm not sure I did. So I think I stole it from somebody else, so I have nothing to say about it except that I don't remember writing it. Isn't that the weirdest thing? Maybe you don't think that's weird, but I think it's really weird. I swear to god. I don't remember where I wrote it or what I wrote it about, but I mean, when I listen to it, I can relate to it. I wrote my portion of the record really quickly, so it's just a blur. I demo everything at home and I was looking through my old files looking for the actual demo version of it and I couldn't even find it. But I have it on CD, I just don't even have a date of when exactly I wrote it. But I really enjoy playing it, it's a fun song, and it's kinda supposed to be cheeky, in my interpretation of it anyway. I must have been thinking, wow, this is cheeky, and that's why I wrote it. I remember writing the bridge though. We were in preproduction and Sara thought the song was too repetitive so I wrote the bridge to break it up. I remember writing that! I think a big theme in our lives is that you create a life and a stable environment and then you pack up and leave it. And then you're just gone and you have to sorta roll with it and try to keep your environment safe and secure and stable and it's hard to do sometimes. Sometimes you get bullheaded and stubborn and self-sabotage and that sort of stuff. That's definitely some of the themes I feel when I'm playing that song but god knows. You'll have to ask Tegan the next time she appears.” - Tegan in 2005

"You know that's one song that I really don't, you know, I remember writing it, I mean I wrote it, but I don't really remember what sort of set me off. But, you know, it's a song about going away. And I talk a lot, so I think that sometimes when I come home, you know, you're in a relationship, but not just like a life partnership relationship, but your relationships with your family, your friends, like everything, all of it changes, your relationship with yourself. And I think I was just kind of writing a song that was me ranting and then the chorus is, you know the 'speak slow' just telling me to basically slow down, shut up. Be quiet for a second." - Tegan in 2005
