Tegan: [On Directing] was I think technically the last song that we wrote for Sainthood. We were just about to actually go into the studio in LA and Sara sent me a demo and I just knew after hearing it one time I was like 'Oh my god! Oh my god! It has to be on the record!' I had like a total freakout. And we got to the studio and Chris Walla was like 'Yeah I listened to it!' and you could tell like he had like- he had like s- like it had come into his brain, he had like definitely surfaced like- er, he had uh- what do you call it when you, when your planet goes to the other, it like rotates around and-
Sara: Wow. Wow.
Tegan: You know what I mean? Like that had happened.
Sara: This is a trippy explanation.
Tegan: Yeah. It's totally trippy. But then it was Jason McGerr, who played drums, who plays in Death Cab For Cutie. He came to the studio, and he had like taken the demo and built like this drum track over top of it and like I was like "Yes! I know we're gonna do this song!" so anyway this is like one of my favorites on the record, so.
