Lyrics:
Under Feet Like Ours version:
You’ve got your lights turned so they can’t see you
The very best of what you’ve got to offer
Tell them what your hands were made for
Tell them who your mouth was made for
You’ve got your profits and your mathematicians
The vocal fuel of a generation
Tell me what my hands were made for
Tell me who my mouth was made for
And please don’t be mad at me
Well you’ll get what you ask for
So come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
So very close to what you had expected
It makes it hard to keep my head up level
Tell me I’m what your hands were made for
Tell me I’m who your mouth was made for
And if you come down on me
Well you’ll get what you ask for
So come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
And I, I want to get myself back
High, I want to get myself back
Tonight, tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight, tonight
And all of the things that you promised us that you’d be
Well now your hands are tired
But I was nice, yeah I was nice
But I, I’d give my life
For one night, one night, one night
Well I, I
Well I, I
I will not give up, I will not give up, I will not give up
What do you know? What do you know?
What do you know? Oh
What do you know? Oh
Come on, come on, come on {What do you know?}
Come on, come on, come on {What do you know?}
Come on, come on, come on {What do you know?}
Come on, come on, come on {What do you know?}
This Business of Art version:
You've got your lights turned so they can see you
The very best of what you've got to offer
Tell them what your hands were made for
Tell them who your mouth was made for
You got your prophets and your mathematicians
The vocal fuel of a generation
Tell me what my hands were made for
Tell me who my mouth was made for
And please don't be mad at me
You'll get what you ask for
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
So very close to what you had expected
It makes it hard to keep my head uplevel
Tell me I'm what your hands were made for
Tell me I'm who your mouth was made for
And if you come down on me
Well you'll get what you ask for
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
I, I want to get myself back
High, I want to get myself back
All of the things that you promised me that you'd be
Now your hands are tired
And all of the things that you promised me that you'd need
Now your hands are tired
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on

Trivia and Quotes:
“I wrote this song when I felt like I was having a really big change in my life. My change was just that I decided I just was not ever gonna get math. I just really needed to like, let it go. Like I still to this today, I could cry right now, I still to this freaking day, no, not freaking, this fucking day, I still have dreams about math class. Like I still, like I was tortured in math class, like I just was stupid. And I still have dreams where, in the middle of the dream, I realize I've been skipping out on math class and I’m like, I’m so dead at the end of this year. So I wrote this whole song based on that premise that I was like, so not a math person and everybody just needs to relax about it. And people always think it’s a song that I wrote for someone, like a tortured love song, but it’s really a tortured love song to math. I’m not joking.” - Sara in 2001
