home (for now...)
friends,
i’m writing you from my home that has no wheels attached to it!
it was a long adventure, but we’ve all flown back across the ocean to our respective sanctuaries.
we sort of went a little batty and posted a lot of video on this tour, so i know this post needn’t be extensive.
we do want to extend a gigantic thank you to all of you who came out and supported our european winter tour. highlights for ME included: denmark, sweden, germany and france.
not that i didn’t enjoy all of the shows (ok there were a few that were...er...challenging) but for the most part, the shows were the highlight of my day!
this was a difficult tour for us. two bus "incidents" (one of course was a proper bus crash-our first in 10 years of touring) and weather/travel issues, some downright shit club shows and a lot of behind the scenes drama.
i really felt like we were a "band". pulling together with 13 other people each day to try and make this weird life of ours work. sometimes you wonder what for! and other days you can’t imagine what else on earth you would ever want to do but exactly what we’re doing.
i’ve posted a few photos. its weird, there aren’t very many to post of me and tegan. i guess our band doesn’t want their iphotos full of our mugs. i promise myself to be more self indulgent and drag out the camera more on our upcoming US tour.
there are tons of shows up for sale, check the tour listings for details...we’re especially excited about doing the true colors tour in june. "she’s so unusual" is still one of the most influential records of my life. cyndi lauper...we’re thrilled. its also such an amazing cause. a lot of times, it feels like the media fixates on the idea of "gay marriage" and the majority of people fail to realize that besides gay marriage, gay and trans-gender people still don’t have human rights that most heterosexual people/coupes take for granted. for example...having a job while being transparent about your sexual preference. based on a figure i read on the true colors website, 33 states in the USA, you can still be fired from your job if you’re gay/trans. insane. shocking. i’m proud to be queer, and i’m proud to have so many friends who are queer allies. you don’t have to be gay to care about these issues. they are HUMAN RIGHTS issues. not gay issues. educate yourself!!

on a completely random subject...macbeth shoes will be manufacturing and distributing a TEGAN shoe AND a SARA shoe, in spring 2009. the shoe that is being advertised using our mugs right now, is just a macbeth shoe.(Which is also a really cool shoe!) but i know there was some confusion and some of you were asking...so there you go!
we are going to release some new tour info (european/uk summer) stuff soon. we also play to do another US/CANADA tour in sep/nov 08 as well as australia/japan in nov/dec 08. so stay tuned for announcements!
hope you’re all well,
xxx
