This is their seventh album. It was produced by Greg Kurstin (Tracks 1-4, 7-10), Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Tracks 5-6), and Rob Cavallo (Track 8). It was recorded at Echo Studio, Chez MJ, and Lightning Sound Studio in Los Angeles, California.

  • The deluxe version of the album includes two bonus tracks: Guilty As Charged and I Run Empty.

  • They also released a b-side from Heartthrob titled Shudder To Think for the soundtrack of the film Dallas Buyers Club.

  • The only demo for this album that they released is God Help Yourself, which was released as part of Good Music to Avert the Collapse of American Democracy.
